Global Dartmouth Flood Observatory Archive of Flood Events Contains flood archives, by year, for 1995-1999.  Each archive contains a listing of major flood events by: Dartmouth Catalog #; World Location; Detailed Locations (Towns, Counties and Rivers); Onset Date; Termination Date; Known Dead; Number Displaced; Damage Estimate; Flood Type; Occurrence Interval; Hectares or Acres Flooded; Hayden  Classification.  Dartmouth catalog numbers represent discrete flood events.  Some events have been imaged by satellite or airborne systems and translated by DFO staff into maps of inundation extents and flood-generating watersheds.  High resolution jpeg versions of these maps are available from the website.  Maps are AVHRR images.  Also on the website is a world map of locations of extreme flood events for the year of that archive and they are in the process of constructing maps that compare changes in flooding and flood sites from year to year. 1995-1999 http://www.dartmouth.edu/artsci/geog/floods NASA-supported Dartmouth Flood Observatory
